Jenifer Hartt – Principal

Creative, Insightful, Analytical

Jenifer Hartt specializes in uncovering the motivations, attitudes, and emotions that drive behavior. She founded Hartt and Mind Market Research, a research consultancy, in 2011. She has interviewed thousands of people from CEOs and physicians to teenagers and drunk drivers.  Jenifer also serves as the feature editor for the popular ToolBox section of QRCA’s award winning magazine, VIEWS.

Jenifer is grounded in the use of projectives, NLP, and hypnosis in her qualitative research. She earned her MBA from Cornell University and along the way picked up a CPA and CFA. Jenifer received an economics degree with honors from the University of Washington.

Hartt and Mind fields an interview and due diligence team par excellence.  Our interviewers  have deep backgrounds in research, investigative journalism, competitive intelligence and pre-acquisition due-diligence.  They know how to hunt down the answers you need.

We partner with quantitative researchers, secondary market researchers, and competitive intelligence consultants who draw on decades of front-line research experience.  In addition, we bring in specialists to augment our expertise.

Fred Wergeles – Competitive Intelligence Expert

Fred Wergeles, founder and Principal of Fred Wergeles & Associates LLC, specializes in Strategic Planning and Competitive Intelligence process improvement. He brings over 25 years experience managing intelligence collection and analysis in support of strategic decisions.  After 18 years with the Central Intelligence Agency, Fred now advises companies in a diverse array of industries, including utilities, oil and gas exploration, insurance and financial services, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, consumer products, and high tech start-ups.

Fred earned an MA in National Security Studies at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and a BS in Physics from the University of Lowell (now UMass-Lowell).


Bonnie Eisenfeld – Secondary Research and more

Bonnie Eisenfeld thrives on finding answers to marketing questions and using them to drive marketing strategy and communications. She manages in-depth interviewing projects among business respondents and has expertise in cost-efficient research design, questionnaire writing, report writing, and secondary research. Bonnie led CIGNA’s Corporate Marketing Research function for 11 years, managing research projects in the employee benefits, healthcare, and financial service categories, including U.S and foreign markets.

Bonnie holds a BA in social sciences and history from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA from the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania.


Bruce S. Putterman – Due Diligence Guru

Bruce Putterman is our go-to colleague on due diligence projects.  Bruce has over has 26 years of marketing experience, providing strategic planning, marketing consulting, market research, and marketing due diligence services. Clients agree Bruce helps identify the pieces necessary to identify and solve business challenges and to put the pieces together to form a picture that leads to insight and business growth.

Bruce received a Bachelors of Arts and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Cornell University.


Rob Podhurst – Survey Design and Quantitative Researcher

Rob Podhurst specializes in survey design, quantitative methods and statistical analysis. Since diving into marketing research almost 30 years ago, he has consulted for a diverse mix of clients. Rob started Podhurst Associates, Inc., a marketing research consultancy, in 1998. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Client Services at Meyers Research Center, and has also held positions at BAI Global (now part of Synovate), Pace Research and Analysis and Sheer Communications.

Rob received his MA in Social Sciences from The State University of New York at Albany in 1982.


Ruth Mitman, Ph.D – Consultant on the 50+ market

Ruth Mitman, Ph.D., advises Hartt and Mind and our clients on the 50-plus market.  She brings over 25 years of experience studying the mature market. As a national speaker, trainer, and consultant, Ruth helps companies increase their market share by understanding and speaking to older customers better than their competitors, thereby increasing sales, improving customer service, and retaining hard-won clients.

Ruth holds a Ph.D. in Gerontology and Education from Michigan State University.


Julian Hartt Jr., MSW, LCSW – Consultant on behavioral health & addiction

Julian Hartt Jr. consults on Hartt and Mind research projects in the mental health field.  He has 40 years of clinical experience working with adolescents and adults with substance abuse, trauma, and other psychiatric problems in a full spectrum of settings.  Julian has consulted with a variety of public and private schools and universities. He currently serves as the clinical director of a community-based relapse prevention program for adolescents with substance abuse issues.

Julian holds a BA in English from Rocky Mountain College and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut.
